The event was attended by more than a hundred specialists from Moscow and Moscow area, Volgograd, Chelyabinsk, and Gorno-Altaisk.
Here are the most interesting moments from presentations delivered by the speakers and participants of the workshop and business meetings “Active Summer – 2017”.
The workshop started off with a round table discussion entitled "What is going on at the market of active leisure and tourism".
The round table discussion was led by Mikhail Musinyants, the President of Moscow Ski&Board Salon. The following issues were discussed: How big is the potential of the summer load of domestic and foreign mountain resorts? How does the demand for summer vacations in the mountains look like? What organizations can help in fostering this kind of demand? How to form the market of summer programs at mountain resorts? What keeps the mountain resorts from attracting the visitors in the summer time? What conditions should be created?
Enrico VUILLERMOZ, representative of Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche (ITALY), shared about the quality of service and the infrastructure of CERVINIA VALTOURNENCHE. Currently, the resort still gets the bigger share of its visitors in the wintertime. Over the recent years, the accent of promoting the region has been shifted towards the summer product.
Anton Morozov, communication manager of Rosa Khutor, shared about how the nation’s main ski resort was able to secure more visitors in the summertime than in winter: "ROSA KHUTOR... SOCHI'S MAIN EVENT VENUE. MORE THAN 150 EVENTS A YEAR!"
Umar Aidinov, chairman of the Regional public organization “Center for promoting tourism and sports in the Karachaevo-Cherkess Republic” shared about the experience of cooperation between a mountain resort and travel companies, about how to find common ground, how to join efforts for better results, and why do the hotels do not give the favorable terms to travel companies. The absence of high-quality service as the cause of underload of the resort.
“In the spring of 2017, we will launch a social project that will be sure to attract everybody who is into skiing or snowboarding. For the first time in history, we will use a domestic crowdfunding venue for raising funds to create a world-class terrain park. The park will be built in one of the most beautiful winter getaways – Dombai Resort”. Irene Andreeva, the author of the project called “Dombai Revival” decided not to wait until the federal financing will pay attention to this beautiful place. In her opinion, Dombai has all the prerequisites to hold its own with the world’s top mountain resorts – the beautiful panoramas, the special “ringing” air, and the climate that allows skiing from December till May. “It's only the decent service and accommodations that are missing” (ski.ru) The technical part of the project will be handled by the Sportmatic company that has the experience of building terrain parks and is ready to build one in Dombai.
Svetlana Ermolaeva, Deputy General Director of “Roza Vetrov” Travel Company, drew the visitors' attention to the topic that may be described as “Who is the summer client of a mountain resort? Customer win-back scenarios at mountain resorts. Functions of the tourist office at a mountain resort”.
Polina Piskunova, CEO of the web portal “Save Pro Life” Extreme and active sports insurance. The mandatory insurance of tourists at Russian mountain resorts and calculation of mountain sports risks.
The organizers of “ACTIVE SUMMER IN THE MOUNTAINS – 2017” invited the project "ClimbPlanet" and its leader Anna Rakitskaya to share about rock-climbing as one of the core kinds of summer activities at mountain resorts.
The editor-in-chief of the nation’s main outdoor community "Risk.ru", Elena Dmitrienko, at the example of their own projects explained how to share about the possibilities of this or that mountain region in order to be heard, and answered the question why the multimedia technologies have won over the hearts and minds of the Internet users.
Two projects demonstrated that mountains are quite accessible to people with reduced capabilities: “METELITSA” and “Dream Skis” of Sergey Belogolovtsev.
All the guests of the event could try their hand at mini-golf (THANK YOU TO THE GOLF ASSOCIATION OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION and personally to OLGA VALOVA), took part in the lottery with prizes provided by KANT skiing center (a personal thank you to Anton Vinogradov) and by the German company MEDI and its sports brad CEP (we thank ROMAN PETUKHOV for his care and consideration).
